So many of us are going through stress in our lives. We experience so much anxiety that it’s become part of our culture. We stress about our kids, we’re worried about our parents, we’re anxious because of our jobs. The list goes on and on and on.
We always have so much going on, that when we finally don’t have a situation to deal with, we start to get frantic. It’s almost like we’re looking for drama or busyness to get involved with.
It’s in these times that we need to take a step back and pause. As women, we do so much and never get the chance to catch our breath. But it’s so important to take the time to honor ourselves and our bodies.
When you’re stressed, do you ever catch yourself saying, “Oh yeah… I’ll take that yoga class one day”, or “I’ve been thinking about it…”, but you never actually follow through?
LADIES, please do this for yourself! If you don’t have a yoga, breathing, or meditation practice, please start today. It doesn’t matter if you take a class from me or from someone else, it is so important to just do it. Even after just one class, I assure you that you will see the difference.
If you’re tired and drained, you won’t be able to serve others in the way that you want or need to. Once you start taking better care of yourself, you’ll be able to be a better caretaker for others.
It’s time to start serving yourself. This is your time. It doesn’t matter what limitations you have; you can even do yoga while sitting in a chair! Just imagine, as you take those deep breaths, how good you're going to feel.
I think, when we’re wondering why we’re dealing with anxiety or obsessing over problems, we need to stop judging ourselves. How? By honoring ourselves, breathing deeply, and having time alone with our practice.
Remember, don’t compare yourself to other people. Each and every one of us has different capabilities, health, flexibility, and situations. Yoga is about honoring yourself and where you currently are.
If you’re uncomfortable practicing in a yoga studio, you can do it from home! I am actually offering a Pose to Practice course that will teach you all of the fundamentals of yoga without ever having to leave your house. You can even do the lessons outside!
Yoga has made me present, helped me with my breathing, made me calmer, and taught me how to serve myself. It is so much more than a form of exercise. It helps you with your health and your life, and it never leaves you.
I don’t know where I’d be without yoga in my life. I certainly wouldn’t have met and helped all the amazing women like you. Give yoga a shot. You don’t have anything to lose!
