Do you want to grow? Do you want to be confident and live life to the fullest?
In order to do these things, you need to accept yourself. I find that we as women struggle with this due to limited beliefs that make us feel empty inside. When we were girls, we were always told to be nice, pretty, courteous. We were expected to stifle our emotions.
Our generation is parenting kids differently--we allow them to be themselves and have their own power. We know to do better with them, but we don’t give the same freedom to ourselves.
This lack of self-acceptance and empathy is exhausting, and eventually, it always comes spilling out. We end up releasing this stress onto everyone around us. All of a sudden you have a migraine or are breaking out with adult acne. Coincidence? I think not.
I fight this cycle by staying present--specifically through my daily yoga practice. As I move through the poses, I have to stay focused to keep my body balanced. As I try new asanas, I feel strong, which makes me grateful for my body. Most importantly, I regularly do poses that release emotions, such as the pigeon pose.
I use my practice to inhale acceptance and self-peace...and exhale old beliefs and grudges. Practicing yoga has changed my life. I am now a better mom, a better woman, and a better participant in life!
